Lea Hilton ’21 of Kannapolis has been volunteering for nonprofits for as long as she can remember. As a Francis Scholar at Pfeiffer University, she received a Francis Service Scholarship, which obligated her to complete 60 service hours each semester.
Dr. Michael Thompson, a long-time history professor and director of the Undergraduate Honors Program at Pfeiffer University, has been named the university’s interim provost. He succeeds Dr. Tracy Espy, who was recently appointed the president of Mitchell College in New London, Conn.
With our world still feeling the effects of COVID-19, the health and safety of our Pfeiffer Pfamily is our top priority. With this in mind, updates to the academic calendar have been made.

The Dean’s list is a recognition of academic merit given at the end of each semester to students who have earned a GPA of 3.500 or higher for the semester. To be eligible, a student must carry a minimum of 12 SH in a semester.

The new Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program at Pfeiffer University will hold its first classes in August at the university’s Center for Health Sciences in downtown Albemarle, having been granted “candidacy status” by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

Dr. Tracy Espy, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Pfeiffer University, has been appointed the president of Mitchell College in New London, Conn. Her first day at Mitchell will be July 1, and her last day at Pfeiffer will be May 22, after which Dr.
The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are creating some daunting challenges for Stanly County Christian Ministry (SCCM). These include increases in food insecurity caused by lost or reduced incomes as well as shortages of volunteers brought on by stay-at-home orders.
