Members of the Class of 2008 recognized during ceremony
Pfeiffer University celebrated its annual spring commencement on May 10. Several graduates were recognized for their high achievements in academics, service engagement and leadership during the ceremony.
Dr. Cameron P. West, Pfeiffer University's sixth president, died Sunday, May 11, at age 87. He was an advocate of eduation and served a distinguished career in higher education. Dr. West's leadership was central in founding the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). He is also credited for his leadership in the creation of the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant, which has enabled thousands of North Carolinians to afford access to higher education at the state's independent colleges and universities.
Degrees were conferred upon approximately 150 graduates during Pfeiffer University's 2008 commencement ceremony. Dr. Myles Brand, NCAA president, served as the keynote speaker. View graduation 2008 slide show:
