Bathanti came to North Carolina as a VISTA Volunteer in 1976 to work with prison inmates. His life in North Carolinaled to his position as professor of creative writing and co-director of the Visiting Writers Series at Appalachian State University. He also teaches icreative writing in Pittsburgh-based Carlow University's low residency Master of Fine Arts(MFA) program.

An artist reception is scheduled from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, in Pfeiffer's art gallery located in Goode Hall on the Misenheimer campus. The event is free and open to the public. Kline's current exhibit displays his love for meditation and serenity.

Hester's current exhibit is a combined medium display. His work "Ship of Fools: Portrait of a Confederate Navy" is a suite of 100 oil paintings of various sizes that use unique shapes, jeweled surfaces, rich tones, and a luminous palette to explore the cruelty and beauty of 19th Century maritime warfare.

An opening reception will be held from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, in the gallery (located in Goode Hall on the Misenheimer campus). The event is free and open to the public. "It has been one of the biggest struggles in my life. As children we long to join the company of Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, and Dumbo," Gulledge explains.

The opening night reception for the show will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, in the art gallery. The exhibit will consist of creative mixed media, including paintings, photography, origami, cross-stitching, and other unique pieces.
