Pfeiffer University has been awarded $500,000 from the Golden LEAF Foundation for its forthcoming Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MS-PAS) program. The support comes as part of funding that totals $1.3 million from the foundation to Stanly County entities from its Community-Based Grantsmaking Initiative for three significant but separate projects.

Pfeiffer University announces that it is one of a select group of 21 institutions across the nation chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) to receive a grant in the amount of $13,000 to implement an Intergenerational Connections: Students Serving Older Adults program.

Pfeiffer University mourns the death on June 1, 2017, of Ruby Maxine Barnes Mason. Mrs. Mason began her career with Pfeiffer in 1959 as administrative assistant to the vice president of business affairs, and later for the development office. In 1966, she moved to the Office of Financial Aid, retiring in 1995 as its director.

Pfeiffer University announces that Reverend Maegan Daigle Habich will join its staff on July 1 as university chaplain and director of church relations. In this new position, Reverend Habich will direct the implementation of a traditional campus ministry and chaplaincy, and work closely with the Francis Center for Servant Leadership to coordinate faith-based and secular service programming.

On May 10, Pfeiffer University-Charlotte took a significant step toward transitioning from its longtime home on Park Road to new space across the street at 1515 Montford Park with a ceremony defined by United Methodist Church (UMC) protocol as “Order of Leave-Taking.”

Mandee Schaub, a Pfeiffer University freshman from Bolivia, N.C., has been named a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based nonprofit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education. She is one of 273 college students from across the country who will make up the organization’s inaugural cohort.
