The beginning of the 2020-21 academic year was a time of many unanswered questions, unprecedented adjustments, and constant shifts. Yet, in a time of extreme change, Pfeiffer University has also celebrated the constant, committed and dependable.
The Devoted & True Society was established in 2020-21 to formally recognize alumni and others who demonstrate their loyalty to Pfeiffer’s future every year. “Our Loyalty Reigns Ever More” – familiar words from Pfeiffer’s alma mater – is noted on the Devoted & True logo, offering a nod to the University’s most loyal donors.
Donors who hold the Devoted & True designation pledge to support the University with an unrestricted gift of $1,000 or more per year for five years. Their endorsement, with consistent donations to the Pfeiffer Fund, helps Pfeiffer address institutional priorities, including program enhancements and scholarship support to more than 95 percent of Pfeiffer students. Additionally, these donors help provide a steady foundation of support on which Pfeiffer can depend, helping to ensure that the University stays financially healthy.
“Pfeiffer’s Devoted & True alumni and friends are an essential part of our institutional success, and we want to celebrate them in special ways. Their loyalty and commitment to Pfeiffer, and their dedication to helping our University grow in new and exciting ways, is tremendously encouraging. I hope that many other alumni will reflect upon the ways that Pfeiffer has influenced the trajectory of their lives and choose to join this special group of benefactors,” said President Dr. Scott Bullard.
To date, just over 50 households – 41 of which are alumni households – have earned the Devoted & True distinction. Their financial commitments total over $300,000.
“It’s a testament to what individuals can do when they come together around a common connection. Donation amounts vary of course, but in many cases, Devoted & True donors are committing to a gift of $84 per month. That’s just a little more than a dinner out for my family, and we’ve decided to share that amount with Pfeiffer instead,” said Jo Ellen Newsome ’93, ’13, Executive Director for Advancement at Pfeiffer.
“Pfeiffer has influenced me in so many important ways. I made lifelong friends here, I learned how to think critically here, and most importantly, I learned how to learn. I am pleased to be Devoted & True and hope that many others will join me in making that commitment,” she said.
