Pfeiffer’s undergraduate health and physical education program, in the division of education, is available at the Misenheimer campus. Participate in the School of Education Majors Club to network with other students and explore ways to gain valuable career experience.


Our health and physical education program curriculum requires a minimum investment of 83 semester hours (SH) plus four activities. In addition to coursework, health and physical education majors participate in a number of practicum and field experiences culminating in a full semester of student teaching during the senior year.

The teacher education program at Pfeiffer University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) to offer a program for licensure in health and physical education. All courses meet and satisfy competencies and guidelines established by NCDPI.

Non-degree Participation

All students may participate in Pfeiffer's Basic Physical Education program, which consists of 14 activity courses. These are available for personal enrichment as well as to fulfill the activity requirements of the General Education curriculum. The activity courses are graded on a Pass/Not Pass basis. PE activity courses may not be repeated to fulfill major requirements (except HPED 115).
