Junior Rhonda Benton presents data collection information at N.C. conference at Elon University
Rhonda Benton, a junior studying history at Pfeiffer University, co-presented with Dr. Ashley Oliphant, assistant professor of English and Bridget Ferrigan, director of service scholars in the Francis Center at the North Carolina Campus Compact Pathways to Achieving Civic Engagement conference at Elon University on Wed, Feb. 13.
Ashley Oliphant and Bridget Ferrigan manage the Francis Center for Servant Leadership, which coordinates all service-related trips, events and scholarships on campus. The presentation, "How to foster student leader agency, improve your data collection process and avoid pulling out your hair,” was offered to 25 administrators and faculty members from college campuses throughout the Southeast.
Rhonda Benton has served as the Francis Center's service data coordinator for the past year, and the presentation focused on a database she designed to improve the Center's data collection and analysis processes.
“I was honored to participate in such a prestigious event,” said Rhonda. “Being able to help others by sharing information about the database I created gave me an amazing feeling of accomplishment. “
Students participating in the University's service scholarships are eligible for positions on the six-member Student Leadership Team and have the opportunity to travel free of charge to conferences as presenters and attendees.
