Admissions to offer three new summer experiences for prospective students
This summer, the Office of Admissions is partnering with the Francis Center for Servant Leadership, Center for Outdoor Leadership and The Village Church to provide prospective students the opportunity to learn about Pfeiffer while participating in exciting activities that cater to a variety of interests. These events, SOAR Service, SOAR Explore and SOAR Faith, are the first of their kind and will provide those interested in Pfeiffer with an entirely different “first look” at what it has to offer.
The Confucius Institute at Pfeiffer University is recognized for leading calligraphy immersion courses
The Confucius Institute at Pfeiffer University has implemented two calligraphy immersion courses at two schools in the Charlotte area, Waddell Language Academy and Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy.
Pfeiffer students spend spring break participating in service and adventure
Most college students go home or to the beach for spring break but seven Pfeiffer students joined two student trip leaders on the Alaska Malamute Service & Adventure Experience sponsored by Pfeiffer’s Center for Outdoor Leadership.
Sophomore Lindsey Sisco, student trip leader and Junior Zach Thompson, assistant student trip leader, led students to Wayeh Kennel located in Spring City, Tenn., which specializes in breeding Alaska Malamutes and training them for work in the show ring, therapy and as house pets. Additionally, the leaders incorporated an educational visit to an aquarium and hiked to the summit of Crowder’s Mountain.
Pfeiffer students make a difference in Charleston over spring break
Over spring break, the Francis Center for Servant Leadership and Peer Ministries from Pfeiffer University teamed up to take 12 students, one staff member and one community member to Charleston, S.C., on an alternative break trip. The group spent four days volunteering at three service sites: Lowcountry Children’s Museum, Lowcountry Food Bank and SCORE (South Carolina Oyster Restoration and Enhancement).
N.C. Falconers Guild presents to Pfeiffer student at Gibson Lake House
On Sat., Feb. 9 the Center for Outdoor Leadership hosted several birds of prey, including Pfeiffer’s mascot, the falcon, in a hands-on educational program at Gibson Lake House.
