Experiential Learning Opportunities for Sport Management Students
Pfeiffer University sport management students have had numerous opportunities recently to work with some of the top athletic organizations and facilities available in North Carolina. These include working at the ACC Men’s Golf Championships at the Old North State Club; partnering with the Kannapolis Intimidators, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox; and networking at the 10th Annual Charlotte Bobcats Career Fair.
“With experiential learning a priority at Pfeiffer, opportunities such as these help students build their resumes and consider future internships,” said Dr. Duane Aagaard, assistant professor of sport management.
At the ACC golf tournament, students worked in a variety of roles, including official timers, spotters and range assistants. In Kannapolis, students worked the first Friday night home game of the season and their duties included executing a pre-game parade and organizing the multiple giveaways for the game. In Charlotte, students interacted with representatives from more than 20 companies in the industry.
