On Fri. Oct. 14 faculty and aspiring teachers from Pfeiffer University’s division of Education will host the Field of Dreams overnight experience for boys and girls in 4th through 6th grade. Campers will view the classic feature film “Field of Dreams” in the Administration Building theater before heading over to Merner Gym for games, storytelling and a sleepover.

Pfeiffer University Friends of the Library welcomes Dr. Ashley Oliphant to its annual fall brunch. Dr. Oliphant, an Ernest Hemingway scholar and professor of English at Pfeiffer, will discuss her most recent book, Hemingway and Bimini, The Birth of Sport Fishing at “The End of the World”, Tues., Oct. 18, 10 a.m., Misenheimer campus, Stokes Student Center, 48380 U.S. Hwy. 52N.

Since 2003, Joanna Zipser-Graves, who attended Pfeiffer from Aug. 1994-May 1995 as an international student from Poland, has worked for the International Olympic Committee (IOC)—and this summer attended her seventh Olympic Games as head of National Olympic Committee Management Programmes at Olympic Solidarity.

Pfeiffer University mourns the loss of Carl M. "Buck" Hill ‘58, who served Pfeiffer as a member of the board of trustees from 1993-2003 as well as for a time on the Falcon Club board. He died on Fri., Aug. 5, in Albemarle.

Today, Pfeiffer University held its 20th summer commencement ceremony, where 269 students received master’s degrees and 90 people received undergraduate degrees, primarily from Pfeiffer’s degree completion programs. These programs are available primarily in Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham and online.

Pfeiffer University is pleased to announce that it has joined the Greater Charlotte Consortium (GCC), a group of seven local universities. The GCC allows students to enroll in courses at another member institution and provides a smooth transfer of credits and progress toward degree completion.

Sport Management students participated in the opportunity of a lifetime Mon.-Wed., July 11-13, supplementing a summer course with hands-on experience managing organizational and promotional aspects of the 2016 Sonic Automotive Triple-A All-Star Game, which took place at BB&T Ballpark, home of the Charlotte Knights.

Leonard Fairley ’81 has been elected a bishop of the United Methodist Church during a recent meeting of the denomination’s Southeastern Jurisdiction at Lake Junaluska. The consecration of Fairley will take place on July 15. Fairley’s appointment will last four years and can be extended for another four-year term.
