Pfeiffer's class of 2008 not only received their well-earned diplomas today, but they also received words of wisdom from the president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Dr. Myles Brand.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Merner Gymnasium on the Misenheimer campus. Parking in front of the gymnasium is reserved for those with a physical disability and senior citizens. A professor emeritus of biology and distinguished Pfeiffer alumnus, Dial came to Pfeiffer in 1963 as a faculty member, and is beloved by former students and fellow colleagues alike. Although he retired in 2003, his work and dedication to Pfeiffer continues through his rich legacy and the many alumni who have become successful as a result of his mentorship.

Mathis will also be responsible for identifying prospects and donors, will develop action plans and will coordinate with coaches to create solicitation appeals. She will also plan and coordinate two annual golf tournaments.

"This show provides an opportunity for our students to have a professional quality exhibit to showcase their work," said Joshua Cross, assistant professor of art and director of Pfeiffer's art gallery. "Most importantly, we want to celebrate the visual arts, especially that which is being created by the students in this area."

Espy will work closely with the more than 150 full-time and part-time faculty members as well as with the faculty senate on matters of general welfare of the university. She will also be responsible for providing leadership in all administrative and fiscal areas of academic affairs, including strategic planning, operations, budgeting and management.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, in the Merner Gymnasium on the Misenheimer campus. Degrees will be conferred upon approximately 160 students who are eligible to graduate.
