Why Pfeiffer

Hester's current exhibit is a combined medium display. His work "Ship of Fools: Portrait of a Confederate Navy" is a suite of 100 oil paintings of various sizes that use unique shapes, jeweled surfaces, rich tones, and a luminous palette to explore the cruelty and beauty of 19th Century maritime warfare.

A vital part of Pfeiffer's graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), the institute provides counseling for individuals who need one-on-one, confidential counseling, or for couples, families and/or groups, who may be seeking relationship tune-ups, marriage and family restoration, or just mutual support.

"Each year, the Events...Plus series combines and shares the wonders of art and education with our neighbors," said Sylvia Hoffmire, director of cultural programs. "This series demonstrates an excellent example of how we continue to involve our community in the life of the university."

Auditions and the first rehearsal will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, in the Henry Pfeiffer Chapel on the Misenheimer campus. Rehearsals will continue each Thursday at 7 p.m. until the performance. Those who plan to audition are encouraged to bring their own score.

Why Pfeiffer

An opening reception will be held from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, in the gallery (located in Goode Hall on the Misenheimer campus). The event is free and open to the public. "It has been one of the biggest struggles in my life. As children we long to join the company of Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, and Dumbo," Gulledge explains.

The family's story has been widely told recently when they were selected to receive a new home by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Emmy-award winning reality-show on ABC. Ambrose and Pfeiffer administrators were impressed by the Kings' story of service and wanted to find a way to support their efforts.
