Pfeiffer Sophomore Kristina Everhart, honored as 2018 Newman Civic Fellow

Misenheimer, NC: On March 5, 2018 Kristina Everhart, a Pfeiffer University freshman from Stanly County has been named a 2018 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based nonprofit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education.

Ms. Everhart was chosen in recognition of her volunteer work serving vulnerable populations in Stanly County.  Through this fellowship, she hopes to work alongside her church and local organizations to continue serving as a role model for how compassionate action can bring hope to those in need. Kristina is a pre-nursing major who strives to relieve suffering in her community.

“Kristina was chosen for the Newman Civic Fellowship as a reflection of her commitment to service and work this year with the Francis Center for Servant Leadership”, said Kelly Misiak, Director of Servant Leadership. “We¹re excited to support her in this opportunity to grow as a person and a servant leader.”

The Newman Civic Fellowship, named for Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, is a one-year experience emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth. Through the fellowship, Campus Compact provides a variety of learning and networking opportunities, including a national conference of Newman Civic Fellows in partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. The fellowship also provides fellows with access to exclusive scholarship and post-graduate opportunities.

“The cultivation of community-committed leaders has never been more crucial,” said Campus Compact President Andrew Seligsohn. “We rebuilt the Newman Civic Fellowship experience because our country needs more people who know how to bring communities together for positive change.”  The Newman Civic Fellowship is supported by the KPMG Foundation and Newman¹s Own Foundation.
