Pfeiffer senior and China Grove native receives national award

NACA is a foundation that connects universities and entertainment organizations to help provide better business opportunities for colleges in planning activities and events. The Outstanding Student Leader Award is presented to a recipient at a NACA member school in the south region who has demonstrated dedication and commitment to campus activities and who has been active in NACA.

As president of the Pfeiffer Activities Council, Coe is responsible for planning and implementing entertainment and activities for students on campus. She also served on the NACA conference committee as the assistant to the conference coordinator this year.

"As a well-known senior on campus, her accomplishments and leadership makes her stand out even among our most outstanding students," said Jean Rekowski, director of Student Activities and Orientation at Pfeiffer. "The best thing about Melissa is that she is not defined as a leader at Pfeiffer University alone. She is a leader because of the skills and abilities that she displays daily."

In addition to being involved with NACA, Coe also serves in the Bonner Leader program, has worked as entertainment coordinator for Pfeiffer's student run Relay for Life event, is a resident director and is active in community service.
