Why Pfeiffer

Pfeiffer University has been named a 2017-2018 College of Distinction. This designation places Pfeiffer, for the third consecutive year, among schools across the U.S. that notably deliver Colleges of Distinction’s four overarching distinctions: Engagement, Teaching, Community and Outcomes.

To be designated a “college of distinction,” a school’s curriculum must emphasize core competencies such as critical thinking, writing, oral skills, research and global perspectives. They must also offer dynamic out-of-classroom learning and study abroad programs. Pfeiffer Journey, a transformative four-year program integrating all aspects of college life—academics, student involvement, service opportunities and extracurricular activities, provides a holistic and effective setting for undergraduate students to thrive.

“Pfeiffer is pleased to be recognized again by Colleges of Distinction for the comprehensive, high-quality, liberal arts experience we offer our students,” said Dr. Tracy Espy, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “With a focus on hands-on experiences such as internships and service to support excellent classroom teaching; opportunities for research, collaboration and international study in all disciplines; and one-on-one mentoring for all students, Pfeiffer recognizes and delivers what students need to succeed in graduate school, careers and life.”

Pfeiffer University is one of 19 public and private institutions in North Carolina and South Carolina to be named to the 2017-2018 Colleges of Distinction list.
