Residential Living-Learning Communities

What are residential living-learning communities (LLCs)?
Residential living-learning communities are a link between residence life, academics and community service where students with similar interests can learn from each other and participate in similar experiences and classes.

Why are LLCs important at Pfeiffer?

  • Students in LLCs are more likely to be happy at their university.
  • Students in LLCs have 3-12% higher persistence rates.
  • Students in LLCs are more likely than others to graduate in 2-6 years.
  • Students in LLCs have a cumulative GPA that is .4 higher than others.
  • Students in LLCs score higher on professional school entrance exams.

  • A community for first-year students to supplement the Journey experience
  • Partnership between Residence Life, The Francis Center, Center for Outdoor Leadership, the Village Church, First Year Experience and academics
  • Will include service, outdoor experiences, spiritual exploration, dialogues, and be connected to an academic course
  • Application process to select students for the community
  • Activities planned for QUEST:
    • Shared Pfeiffer Journey class with other Cline residents
    • Weekend retreat with the Center for Outdoor Leadership
    • Service project each semester
    • Faith exploration trips to a variety of places of worship
    • Weekly dinner dialogues with faculty, staff and alumni
    • Extra programming, activities and events

  • Two wings in Merner, one for males and one for females
  • Experiences and programming directly related to pre-health and servant leadership

    • Shared Pfeiffer Journey class with other PATHway residents
    • Off-campus experiences to help build relationships
    • Health-related service project each semester
    • Biweekly dinner dialogues with local health professionals
    • Study groups and tutoring sessions in the residence halls

Housing Application

llcpostcardThose interested in living on campus in a Pfeiffer University residence hall must submit a housing application. The application supplies the Residence Life Office with important information used in roommate selection and housing assignment. Housing Assignments are carefully made by the Residence Life staff made, in order of receipt of Housing Application and enrollment deposit, by using the information provided in the Housing Application and will be posted on your my.pfeiffer.edu account.

Please submit your housing application and enrollment deposit before June 1 in order to be notified of your assignment on Friday, June 14.

Additional Information

  • First-year students at Pfeiffer live in a double room with a roommate for their first semester.
  • Housing Assignments are carefully made by the Residence Life staff by using the information provided in the Housing Application.
  • Please make sure that you fill out the second page of the application truthfully and that you include anything that would be important for a potential roommate to know about you.
  • Be sure to visit the website listed near the bottom of the Housing Application, complete the inventory, and submit your 4 letter type on the application.
  • If you have a specific roommate in mind, make sure that BOTH of you list each other in the Roommate Request section and that you include their address. We will honor 100% of roommate requests submitted by BOTH students. We do NOT accept roommate submissions or requests from anyone other than students.
