This summer, the Office of Admissions is partnering with the Francis Center for Servant Leadership, Center for Outdoor Leadership and The Village Church to provide prospective students the opportunity to learn about Pfeiffer while participating in exciting activities that cater to a variety of interests. These events, SOAR Service, SOAR Explore and SOAR Faith, are the first of their kind and will provide those interested in Pfeiffer with an entirely different “first look†at what it has to offer.
SOAR Service takes place May 31-June 2, and SOAR Explore and SOAR Faith are scheduled for July 24-26.
SOAR Service participants will travel to Charleston, S.C., to work with Lowcountry Food Bank and Green Heart Project to work on hunger relief and sustainability efforts in the area. They will also visit the South Carolina Aquarium and take a ghost tour through the streets of downtown.
Students who participate in SOAR Explore will spend three days backpacking, socializing and rafting, while enjoying the great outdoors of North Carolina. SOAR Faith will focus on reflection of John Wesley's thoughts about the practice of Christianity in the university setting. Afterward, the SOAR Explore and SOAR Faith groups will meet in Hot Springs, N.C., for an overnight experience and whitewater rafting trip.
“The SOAR experiences provide a unique opportunity for prospective students to meet other people, learn about Pfeiffer, and create lasting memories,†said Michelle Inman, campus guest coordinator.
Each SOAR experience costs $65. For more information or to register, visit the following pages:
