On Tues., April 16, students from Pfeiffer University had the opportunity to display works of art created during their time at Pfeiffer at 8th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition held at Falling Rivers Art Gallery in Albemarle, N.C. The show is open to all undergraduate students regardless of whether or not they are majoring in art.
Each year the art program invites an outside artist, art educator or curator to Pfeiffer's Misenheimer campus to judge all entries to the exhibit and honor those worthy with an award. This year's juror was Ingrid Erickson, an artist from Salisbury who is heads education programming at the Waterworks Visual Arts Center in Salisbury.
Winners are Annette Lowder, Best of Show for Geode; John Borza, 1st Merit Award for Patchwork Farm Chicken; Kayla Lookabill, 2nd Merit Award for My Idols Made Me; and Steven Jordan, Juror's Choice for Emma.
“The Juried Art Exhibition is a special opportunity for all students to express their creativity and be recognized for their hard work,†said Josh Cross, associate professor of art. “The event demonstrates that Pfeiffer faculty, staff and students are dedicated to promoting and supporting the creative arts.â€
