In March 2013, marriage and family therapy student Sarah Alwran received the Graduate Student Research Award at the North Carolina Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Conference. This is the first time a Pfeiffer student has been recognized in this category.
This award was established in 1997 by the NCAMFT Board of Directors to recognize excellence in research focused on enhancing the practice of marriage and family therapy or the understanding of families.
Additionally, Dr. Pearl Wong, assistant professor, marriage and family therapy LMFT and AAMFT supervisor, was presented the Marriage and Family Therapy Training Award. This award is designed for a NCAMFT member who has made outstanding contributions to education and training of marriage and family therapists in an academic or non-academic setting.
“Since the marriage and family program opened in 2007, Pfeiffer has built a reputation for excellence in the region,†said Dr. Susan Wilkie McHale, director of marriage and family program. “Pfeiffer students and faculty being recognized for their current and potential contributions to the field reflect the program's position as a leader in educating high-quality marriage and family therapists.â€
