Pfeiffer University Concert Choir and Stanly County Chorale present An American Choral Landscape

The Pfeiffer University Concert Choir and the Stanly County Chorale will join their voices to present a spring concert: An American Choral Landscape. The concert will be performed on Fri., April 19 at 7 p.m. in Henry Pfeiffer Chapel in Misenheimer, N.C., and Sun., April 21 at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Albemarle, N.C.
Under the direction of Joseph Judge '87, director of vocal and choral music and assistant professor of music, the program comprises music of American composers and texts of American poets, featuring as its centerpiece Randall Thompson's setting of poems by Robert Frost, which he titled Frostiana: Seven Country Songs.
Other selections include An American Hymn, a setting of America the Beautiful by Cecil Effinger; Sure On This Shining Night, poem by James Agee and music by Morten Lauridsen; American folk song Shenandoah, arranged by James Erb; a traditional spiritual My Soul's Been Anchored in the Lor, arranged by Moses Hogan; and Make Our Garden Grow from Leonard Bernstein's Candide.
