Pfeiffer University Friends of the Library welcomes D.G. Martin for its spring 2013 program and luncheon

DG MartinPfeiffer University Friends of the Library welcomes D.G. Martin, president, William R. Kenan, Jr., Fund; syndicated columnist; radio host and host of UNC-TV's “North Carolina Bookwatch,” for its spring 2013 program and luncheon on Tues., March 26, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Community Room, Stokes Student Center, on its Misenheimer campus, 48380 U.S. Hwy 52N.

Mr. Martin will discuss interviews he's conducted with some of the 250 authors who have appeared on “North Carolina Bookwatch,” the state's premier literary series. Among these are Woody Durham and Ruth Moose, accomplished writers with connections to Stanly County.

A graduate of Davidson College and Yale Law School and a former Green Beret, Mr. Martin practiced law in Charlotte for 20 years before joining the University of North Carolina system where he served as vice president for public affairs and chief legislative liaison. Since his retirement, he's served in interim leadership positions at UNC-Pembroke, North Carolina Central University, Trust for Public Land, Triangle Land Conservancy and North Carolina's Clean Water Management Trust Fund.

Friends of the Library supports Pfeiffer University's libraries at its Misenheimer, Charlotte and Morrisville campuses, typically for items not included in the university's annual budget. The group's two main annual events, a spring program and luncheon and a fall brunch, feature a local author or literary figure.
