Pfeiffer University Wind Ensemble and Stanly County Concert Band to perform in Misenheimer on March 14

Pfeiffer University's Wind Ensemble will join the Stanly County Concert Band on Thurs., March 14, 7 p.m., in Henry Pfeiffer Chapel on Pfeiffer's Misenheimer campus, 48380 Hwy 52N. The community is invited to this free event.
The concert is a collaborative effort of the Pfeiffer University Wind Ensemble and the Stanly County Concert Band, an organization whose mission is to provide lifelong participation in music and enhance the cultural life of Stanly County and the region through free or low cost performances. Board members include James Cotton, president; Tom Lowe, vice president; Stephanie Marrotto, secretary; Carmella Hedrick, treasurer; Doug Craig; Tim Hedrick; Frank Poolos; Cliff Robinson; and Kelly Buck and Desmond Harrel, Pfeiffer student representatives.
Among the selections on the concert program Brighton Beach, a concert march by William P. Latham; S. S. Eagle March from the Symphonic Suite for Band Down to the Sea in Ships by Robert Russell Bennett; Strike Up the Band by George Gershwin; and Festivo by Vaclav Nelhybel, a contemporary band composition based on rhythm instead of melody.
