At a ceremony in the parlor of the president's house on Pfeiffer University's Misenheimer, N.C., campus, the North Carolina AMVETS Career Center presented President Michael C. Miller with its Advocate of the Year Award.
Presented by David Beam, commander, North Carolina Department of AMVETS, the award marks President Miller's and Pfeiffer University's support for the AMVETS mission over the past year since the Career Center opened on Pfeiffer's campus.
“The AMVETS Career Center's accomplishments for the short time they've been operating are outstanding,†said President Miller. “Pfeiffer is extremely proud of its AMVETS affiliation and pleased to be able to play a small part in the Center's success.â€
In addition to a number of AMVETS dignitaries, the mayors of Misenheimer, New London, Richfield, respectively, Mike Reimann, Calvin Gaddy and Jim Misenheimer, were on hand for the event as well as Tom Ramseur, president of the Stanly Chamber, and George “Pat†Waters, a 1965 graduate of Pfeiffer University and grandson of General George S. Patton.
