International Undergraduate Requirements

Note: You must apply to Pfeiffer University BEFORE applying for a visa.

  1. Submit an online application or download a hard copy and mail to Pfeiffer University International Center.
  2. Submit transcripts from all schools attended.
  3. Submit evidence of English proficiency. International students applying to Pfeiffer University must demonstrate one of the following:
    1. *TOEFL score of at least 500 PBT/173 CBT/61 IBT, administered at an official ETS testing center (not at a university)
    2. IELTS score of at least 5.0
    3. Completion of 60 credit hours at a U.S. university
    4. Completion of four years at a U.S. high school
    5. English as a first language reinforced with completion of an appropriate level ESL program that is sufficient for undergraduate university study
    6. Satisfactory SAT (450/CR) or ACT score

      *The TOEFL is administered in most countries online. It is offered several times monthly, but at a limited number of computer centers. Pre-registration is required. A multiple choice and essay format is used to measure ability to comprehend American English. The test includes four sections: listening, structure, reading and writing; the writing section includes an essay. The total number of questions answered correctly and the essay score form the raw scores for each section.

  4. Submit proof of finanacial support to cover the first year's expenses, including living expenses. Contact the Admissions Office for the total amount to be documented. (All currency should be stated in U.S.dallars.) Download the Statement of Financial Support form. Include copies of bank statements to show availability of funds. (Make copies before submitting to Pfeiffer; they will be needed again for the visa application.)
  5. Submit a copy of your passport (page with name and expiration date).

  6. After all paperwork has been submitted and you have been accepted to Pfeiffer University, Pfeiffer will send you an I-20. Read this document carefully and alert Pfeiffer if it is not correct because an error may affect your visa application. (Note: page 2 outlines responsibilities for F-1 students.)

  7. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires a $200 SEVIS fee BEFORE applying for an F-1 visa at a U.S. consulate or embassy. THIS FEE MUST BE PAID 3 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR A VISA. Pay this fee in one of two ways:
    1. Pay by mail by submitting Form I-901 [ADDRESS] , “Fee Remittance for Certain F, M, and J Nonimmigrants,” with a check or money order drawn from a U.S. bank and payable in U.S. currency;

    2. Pay online, at https://www.fmjfee.com/i90fee/. Here, you can complete the I-901 and pay using VISA, MasterCard or American Express, whether issued in the U.S. or overseas. (Note: If you pay the fee online, print a copy of the receipt before exiting the website.)
