Specializations

Within the basic track it is possible to specialize in one of the following areas: Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, or Organizational Leadership.

Children's Ministry

In addition to the core curriculum, three courses would be required:

  • CHED 611 Christian Education with Children
  • CHED 623 Godly Play: A Ministry of Christian Formation for Children
  • CHED 660 Field Work with Children

Featured Faculty Member: Dr. Dick Gibson is a nationally known leader in Godly Play and has worked with Jerome Berryman in equipping Christian educators and churches in the art of Godly Play. He has been a part of the Pfeiffer University faculty for over 10 years.

Youth Ministry

In addition to the core curriculum, three courses would be required:

  • CHED 612 Adolescent World
  • CHED 613 Christian Education with Youth
  • CHED 661 Field Work with Youth

Featured Faculty Member: Dr. Almeda Wright is a former Assistant Director of the Youth Theological Initiative and as the Issue Editor of the Practical Matters Journal.  Read more about Dr. Wright.

Organizational Leadership

In addition to the core curriculum, four courses would be required (NOTE- Principles of Management is an undergraduate prerequisite for this specialization):

  • MBA 602 Organizational Behavior
  • MSL 681 Organizational Leadership
  • MSL 685 Human Resource Development
  • MSL 687 Organizational Change Management
