Welcome to Graduate Academics

dr_espyWelcome to the Office of Academic Affairs at Pfeiffer University. I am excited about the recent period of vibrant growth, transition and vigor within academic affairs. As provost and vice president, I work with our faculty and staff to ensure we offer a student-centered environment and provide quality academics, strategic vision, and leadership for the Academic Affairs Division, which includes the Schools of Business, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, Natural and Health Sciences and Adult and Graduate Studies. I am committed to our system of shared governance that is conducive to learning and helping our students excel in scholarship.

Academically, we strive to offer innovation in education and instruction relevant today in business and industry to prepare our students for employment in the global marketplace. Our schools are continually adapting our programs to meet the needs of both our students and the business community, which we partner with to gain insight and counsel on their ever-changing needs and trends. Pfeiffer's educational model provides a blend of ideology, research, and practical application. Students are taught early in their academic careers to collaborate by working in groups and are routinely placed into situations that simulate real world challenges and solutions, promote critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, excellent communication and the importance of service learning and civic engagement in a changing society.

From its humble origin as a home school committed to providing education to students in rural, North Carolina, Pfeiffer has always promoted service, exploration, and a commitment to high purpose and social justice. Our students are introduced to a range of opportunities that meet community needs and human endeavors that enable us to produce graduates who will exemplify not only exceptional intellectual prowess, but are also compassionate about the world in which we live and are dedicated to the improvement of the human condition.

As we strive to stay on top of paradigm shifts and innovations, we are also continuing to evolve and improve our educational pedagogy.  We’re focused and committed to academic quality and meeting the needs of our students. We work very hard to provide an environment that is devoted to high standards of academic quality, excellence and ingenuity in teaching, scholarship and service that offers our students access to resources and programs that are tailored to the needs of each individual.

Thank you for your interest in Pfeiffer University. I hope that you will not only browse our web site, but also plan to visit soon.
