Pfeiffer University has named Lourdes Silva as the new university registrar. Silva began her new duties last month.
As university registrar, Silva is responsible for compiling and maintaining official academic records of all students who attend, or have attended, Pfeiffer. She also develops and publishes the schedule for each term, manages the registration process, ensures grades are recorded accurately, and informs students of their academic progress.
Silva is responsible for evaluating and approving all credits not earned at Pfeiffer, compiling academic eligibility for all college wide organizations, and issuing all official transcripts of student records. Associate registrar Rick Kivior and Steve Mowery, assistant to the registrar, make up Silva’s team. She reports directly to Dr. Tracy Espy, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Pfeiffer.
Silva has held similar positions at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, the State University of New York at Oswego, Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Fla., and Wingate University. She is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and earned her master’s degree from Syracuse University.
