MVB Tourney Title resizedFor the second-consecutive season, the Pfeiffer University men’s volleyball team captured the 2013 Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball tournament championship, scoring a 3-1 victory over Limestone College at Merner Gym on Sat., April 13.  Senior Caleb Brophy of Mission Viejo, Calif., was named the tournament’s most outstanding player after establishing a new school record of 30 kills.

The second-seeded Falcons ended the season with an overall 17-8 record. This achievement is especially notable because men’s volleyball is the only Pfeiffer athletic team to to compete and be classified at the Division I level.

“Winning the championship was very gratifying for everyone on the team considering we returned to campus last fall soon after the sudden death of a teammate,” said Greg Walker, head coach, referring to Lance Johnson, who passed away in July 2012. “The opportunity to honor a friend’s life brought this group of young men together for a special purpose.”
