Pfeiffer University Campus

Welcome to Career Services

Four years seems like plenty of time; time to select a major, earn and maintain good grades, join a student organization or two, participate in a mission trip and perhaps play on a NCAA Division II athletic team.  These four years are going to go quickly; they will be gone in a blink of your eye.  Make the effort to ensure Pfeiffer Career Services (PCS) is part of your entire Pfeiffer experience.

Your career path is a journey and with the assistance and resources of PCS you are not on this journey alone.  Through career assessments and individual career counseling this is the perfect time and place to explore all your options.

PCS is also an intersection of alumni, corporate recruiters, local business, and community resources.  The benefits to students, Pfeiffer, and our partners grows exponentially when we join together to offer events including Job and Internship Fairs, Mock Interviews, Networking Events, and Internships.

Find your fit today in PCS!  We are here to provide the resources and services you need to make your career, job search or hiring process a success.

Pfeiffer Career Services and FOCUS 2 have partnered to bring you a new program designed to help you select the right college major and plan your career pathway.

FOCUS 2 is an online, interactive career and educational planning tool for college students.  It utilizes self assessment, career exploration and decision making in one program.  Students who use FOCUS make better decisions about their goals and plans and they also learn how to self-mange their own careers.

Use FOCUS 2 to help you-

  • Choose or change your major
  • Validate your career preferences
  • Verify an early choice of a occupational field

If you are using FOCUS 2 for the FIRST time, click the link to create a NEW ACCOUNT.

The Pfeiffer access code is Falcons.

Resumes, Interviews and More

Resumes
Your resume is a one-page advertisement of why an employer should hire you. Spend time preparing your resume and have it reviewed by several different people. Take advantage of resume critiques from both Pfeiffer Career Services and employers and be sure to check the calendar for related workshops.

Cover Letters
A well-written cover letter is often the first opportunity you have to communicate with a potential employer. Cover letters are not necessary for Career Fairs and most CCN submissions (unless requested). As with your resume, take time to carefully prepare and proofread your cover letter and customize it for the position for which you are applying.

Interviews
The more prepared you are during an interview the better. The impression you make in the first few moments will determine if you receive a second round interview or an offer. Understand interviewing is a skill; as with all skills, it takes preparation and practice to enhance the quality of that skill. Although there are no guarantees, there are things you can do to increase your chances of success.

Offers
Employment offers may come in many forms: in writing, over the phone or in person. If you are interested in the position, you may accept immediately. However, you may want to take some time to consider the offer. Meet with a Career Services Adviser to review and discuss your offer. Remember both verbal and written commitments must be honored, reneging is never acceptable.
