Charlotte Campus Hosts 2012 Heart of Grace Symposium and Awards
The 2012 Heart of Grace Symposium and Awards will take place on the Charlotte campus, 701 Park Road, Fri., April 13.
The event, which has occurred annually for nearly a decade as “a celebration of women,” honors the achievements of women whose lives and work embody a spirit of servant leadership in their communities and throughout the world. Those nominated for and who are recognized by Pfeiffer University to receive the Community Service and Global Humanitarian awards are characterized accurately in the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s sermon titled “A Drum Major’s Instinct,” which he delivered in February 1968.
In describing what it takes to serve, Dr. King said, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to have to make your subject and verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant.”
